Journalspace Suffers Utter Failure

Journalspace.com has completely failed and won’t be coming back. Their site states that their entire database was completely overwritten by a software issue or a malicious act. How they lost the data isn’t important, what is important to know is that they thought RAID was backup and now know that it clearly isn’t.

And their users are the innocent victims in all of this. They believed that their data was safe at Journalspace and have now realized it wasn’t. What percent of Journalspace users had a good backup? How many have their data backed up so they can recover? Thousands of journals were all lost from the lack of a good backup. How do you protect yourself for just such an energency? Do you have a quality backup? Are your websites at risk? It most certainly is. Journalspace was no small entity and they lost it all. You need to be sure that if bad things happen your online presence can recover.

It’s as simple as this. Back up your files. Back up the files that hold yur blog. Back up the data from your websites. Back up your workstations. Just get it done and get it done now. Don’t be fooled into thinking that portable disks, usb drives, or cd’s will get the job done. They all use recordable media which isn’t permenant, or well protected in your own hands. You need to select an internet backup service that specializes in archiving data. The key features you should require is the ability to do incremental backups (to hold down cost). That it be a Online Backup to keep your data safe. That a network drive on your system is in reality your online backup volume. And that you can back up all your blogs, websites, dedicated servers, computers, etc. with a single user account.

Compare online backup services and do it now. Pick out the ones that have these features and just sign up now. Get it over with. Don’t be like the people who lost everything because their online provider didn’t have a backup. Take charge of your sites and ensure that your sites are lost like the Journalspace users who didn’t think they needed to backup.
