The 3 Costly Errors of Pay Per Click Campaigns
In this small post, I will expose the 3 most general and costly mistakes made by Pay Per Click (PPC) marketers. I will also give you some advices for more effective campaign management. In a few minutes, you should have enough knowledge to transform your loosing campaigns to profitable campaigns.
I recall when I came out with my starting AdWords Campaign. I was so thrilled! I learnt so much courses about PPC that I thought I knew almost everything and I was sure to generate simple money!
So I found a product to promote with affiliate marketing, I used a Keyword program to find keywords with huge monthly search count and I started to pay for each of these keywords and directed the bought traffic directly to the sales page.
How naive I was! And I lost a big amount of cash.
Well this is exactly the way 99% of newbies do things and their results are as terrible as mine were! So terrible that many of them believe that these online marketing opportunities are no less than a conspiracy and that it doesn’t work.
They are right and wrong at the same time. It’s not as fast as many other advertisers tell it is, and this is where the fraud is. But if you know how to do it, it does work, and it works pretty well.
If you’re in a hurry, Look at this: Google Cash Detective and learn how I proceed to spy on my competitors profitable campaigns.
So the 3 most general mistakes are:
A- Placing too many different keywords in a single adgroup. If you do this you can’t have an adcopy which is relevant to your keywords and also to the destination page at the same time. Congruency is crucial. If you are congruent you will experience sky high CTR (click through rate), pretty good conversion rate and low priced bids.
b- Snubbing the numerous long tail keywords. As a matter a fact, Pay per click engines are nowadays very competitive because a ton of other sellers pay for the same keywords as you. Cost per click has dramatically rased these last years and it’s not uncommon to have to bid $30 for a single one click. This is why it is so important to discover the long tail keywords. For example if you are promoting a product for those who want to lose weight, don’t pay for the keyword “weight loss”! No doubt that you would pay a huge amount of money if you had to pay for this keyword and you would probably not have many sales because this keyword is not very targeted. What if the searcher is looking for “weight loss scams”, or “pills that will help weight loss” or “weight loss DVDs” or “weight loss natural methods” etc… Paying for long tail keywords allows to pay less per click and to target woment or/and men looking for what you are promoting.

3- But the worst fault is without the shadow of a doubt not tracking the conversion ratio for each keyword. Any idea what I’m talking about? If for example you have a campaign for which you just break even, I mean a campaign where your expenses are the same amount of cash as what you are earning from your sales. Do you know that generally close to 99% of your keywords are not profitable? Only close to 8% are making you money. If you could stop paying for the useless keywords you would finish with a profitable campaign.
The problem is to find which of those keywords are converting and which are not.
With a Pay Per Click spying software, like Google Cash Detective, it woul be very easy to find such keywords. Read my GCD Review to view how I am using it to uncover profitable campaigns.
