Black Hat Is Back: The Evil and Dark Side of Search Engine Optimization
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that the ultimate goal as a webmaster is to appear as close to the top in the search engine results pages as possible}. Knowing Google is so intelligent, what are the chances that an average web marketer can appear high in the search engine results? Is there a method to give yourself an upper-hand above others that aren’t “in the know”?
sector you are attempting to crack, the answer to that question isn’t always cut and dry. The solution to this million dollar question really depends on which niche you are trying to target. Naturally if the niche you are entering is very competitive, the most common phrases will have been already taken by your competitors and it will be very difficult to appear on the first page.
How many times have you queried for a subject and experienced the first group of results are totally garbage? It’s undoubtedly frustrating if you’re always hitting the back button to re-enter your search. Logic would then dictate, if you are serving up useful information that is highly related to the search keyword your visitor is looking for, then your “bounce rate” should obviously be less.
Now despite all the above-board or “white hat” methods around, there have been some tricky webmasters who have achieved top rankings in the search engines using frowned upon tactics which are known as “spamdexing” – or Black Hat SEO} Is it sneaky and/or evil to outrank OTHER people’s sites which are actually more relevant than your own? Absolutely. Are there lots of people doing it? Absolutely!
Google, however, is really cracking down on many of these “old school” methods of cheating the search engines}.
Some of these techniques include, but are not limited to:
Metatag & keyword stuffing, invisible text or links, link spamming, and cloaking.
*By the way, Black Hat is Back 2 doesn’t necessarily promote or endorse any of these methods and Howie is adament to ensure that you feel comfortable with using his techniques in your business model.
Each of the above techniques is a form of Black Hat SEO or Spamdexing , and will usually get sneaky webmasters who utilize them to use banned from the search engine or “sandboxed” – which is a fancy word for being delisted from the main search results. Not the best thing to happen as a webmaster. One of the most aggressive marketers out there is Howie Schwartz and his teachings are documented in a video series called Black Hat Is Back.
