Earning an income through online marketing is not as difficult as you may think. Once you have a system in place it almost becomes second nature! It’ll take some time for you to do this: get a good, solid system in place. This will not happen within 24 hours, though.
There’s a lot more to online business than just deciding you want sell things online. You need to treat this the way you would treat any other business: organize it first and work on it second. Keep reading to find out some great organizational hints to make your online business a little smoother and less painful.
First, you must keep track of your finances. A lot of marketers just don’t keep an eye on what comes in and what goes out moneywise. There seems to be a common belief that if there’s money in the bank each day, then it’s all good and nothing else is important. You’ll need to keep records of your finances of tax reasons and for invoices, refunds, and receipts. Keeping an up to date business ledger is a great way to stay organized with your earnings and spending. First, every day you just make your ledger entries of all transactions that occur. So for each month you’ll tally the columns and figure what the monthly profits were. But of course you can use a s/w such as Quicken for this, too.
You must have a desk – no doubt about it.
Of course, it IS possible to get by with only your smarts and a laptop – but you really do need a desk. No question – a desk will let you store and keep anything you need to do business all in one great place. Working at your desk will have a psychological effect in that you will feel “more” like you’re really working a business. Your work desk just needs to let you do your job – flat surface, decent shape – good to go.
Make a “To Do” list every day.
It’s unnecessary to schedule down to each minute, unless you want to, but using a written list things you need to get done during the day will help a lot. Then you can just follow the list. These are great when you have some free-time. You can even create several To-Do lists. You could make one list for daily duties such as answering emails, taking care of invoices, tracking finances, etc. Then the other list is for long term work such as projects you’re working on, long term marketing campaigns, and things like that. Now, what you’ll do is use the long term list to keep yourself productive and busy when you’re done with the normal, daily items. Organizing your business helps you earn more money. It’ll make you more efficient and prevent wasted energy and time. Keeping track of your business is much easier when you take some time to organize it!
