A great many web developers spend a lot of time and effort optimising their homepage, whilst pushing all of their backlinks and article links to it. However, this is a mistake which ultimately could lose you traffic, and any business that traffic could bring. Nearly all websites should have backlinks pointing to secondary pages, and not just the homepage. Usually, your homepage wil be the focus of your primary keyword, though your secondary pages might revolve around secondary or long-tail keywords, so you should treat each page individually with a link campaign. This way, your website becomed optimised for each keyword, not just the one you chose for your primary keyword.
