If you have an Apple phone or other device or ever acquired something from Sony, HP or Dell? If so you‘ve probably bought something made at Foxconn in Shenzhen China.

The enormous facility in the town of Shenzhen China employs 275,000 folks by some reports and 425,000 by others. Whatever the number of employees is, they are said to only make only about $130 per month… How would you feel working 10hr shifts on a fast-paced, repeated production line for just 65 CENTS PER HOUR? Do you suspect anybody in the developed world that BUYS the thousands of gadgets being made in China would actually WORK at one of those facilities?

What’s the worst part about working at Foxconn; you moved there from a tiny farming community and have not left it before. You have never been away from your folks farm, and now your folks are far away and you can’t see or speak with them. You do not know anybody where you‘re employed and probably dont even start to know the individuals that you live withinternal the walled-in Foxconn compound. How long before you end up going mad?

The work conditions in the big facility in Shenzhen are most probably not superb. Foxconn makes uncountable billions of bucks in profits, and one employee when talking about the conditions of work had this to say :

I like to occasionally drop things so I can bend down and pick them up. Its like getting a break.
Does that sound like a pleasant place to work to you?

I really feel feel bad to think about the situation, but also hopefully they don’t make the stuff that we use to take our minds off of daily life like a Guitar Hero PS2 bundle. Foxconn produces many different products for different companies so it’s probable if you’re looking for new digital camera sales it might be made there as well.

Next time youre at the drive thru at McD, and they forgot your straw again, ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! Calm down, and put things into perspective. If a missing straw is the very worst thing thats occuring in your life right now, its really not that bad is it?
